FAQ
WHAT DOES CIPESS DO AND WHEN WILL WORK START?
The Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development (CIPESS) is responsible for policy and planning activities, approving strategic measures to drive economic growth.
Following the Court of Auditors’ registration of the CIPESS resolution approving the final design and its subsequent publication in the Official Gazette, the resolution will become effective, leading to the start-up of work on the project with the detailed design and the start of preparatory works.
The programme of preparatory works primarily regards worksite preparation, above all the construction of roads, the removal of obstacles, battlefield clearance, archaeological, geognostic and geotechnical surveys, and preparation of the base camps.
Publication of the CIPESS resolution in the Official Gazette will also trigger a declaration that the project is of public interest, allowing the compulsory purchase process to begin. The compulsory purchase process will begin gradually as work on construction sites progresses.
