The General Contractor chosen by Stretto di Messina through an international tender is responsible for the final and detailed design and construction of the Strait of Messina Bridge and its road and rail connections. 

The General Contractor is Eurolink. The company is majority owned by the Webuild Group together with, among others, Sacyr SA (Spain) and Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries CO Ltd. (Japan). The designer of the crossing is the Danish company, COWI.
