One of the first activities undertaken during the project’s development phase was the identification of the site where the Strait of Messina Bridge will be built.
The locations chosen for the bridge towers are between Punta Pezzo and Cannitello in Calabria and in the Pantani area in Sicily.
The site for crossing the Strait of Messina was selected based on several key factors:
– Accessibility, ensuring the optimal integration of the bridge and its connections within the urban and environmental context;
– The surrounding environment, with particular consideration for the area’s morphology;
– The relationship between the structure and the soil, focusing on the nature of the foundation soils and the absence of active faults.
