9 January 2024 – Campo Calabro’s mayor, Sandro Repaci, met Stretto di Messina’s CEO, Pietro Ciucci, today to take stock of the progress made on the Strait of Messina Bridge. At this meeting Mayor Repaci said: “We are on the threshold of a momentous change, entailing a radical transformation of the local area, to be seized as an opportunity to strengthen our identity in a new and broader arena. The natural characteristics of the local area and non-transferable assets must also be protected. I also believe that the secondary works to be carried out as part of construction of the bridge should not be seen simply as compensatory, but rather as an opportunity for development. Bearing this in mind, we will turn to our community to share the crucial choices that will guide us in our future discussions with Stretto di Messina”. CEO Ciucci said that the Company would listen closely to any concerns raised by the mayor of Campo Calabro: “We will set up technical working groups as soon as possible to discuss the specific issues raised.”
