TECHNICAL WORKING GROUP INVOLVING THE MUNICIPALITY OF MESSINA AND STRETTO DI MESSINA HELD TODAY AT PALAZZO ZANCA

A scheduled technical panel was held today at Palazzo Zanca involving the Municipality of Messina and Stretto di Messina to discuss issues relating to the bridge’s integration within the local area, with the aim of maintaining constant dialogue with the city and enabling the local authorities to implement their planned strategic choices.

Mayor Federico Basile, Deputy Mayor Salvatore Mondello, General Manager Salvo Puccio, Antonella Cutroneo, manager, and Antonino Martella, architect, from the Municipality’s Local and Urban Planning departments, and Antonio Amato, manager, from the Municipal Technical Services department met with Stretto di Messina’s technical area managers, Valerio Mele, Ilaria Coppa, Alessandro Micheli and Eugenio Fedeli.

In particular, the following issues were addressed: road and rail links; the construction site road system, regarding which previously identified mitigation measures have been confirmed, which will be further revised in the final design; the ancillary works already included in the final design as well as territorial integration works, to be defined and approved by the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development (CIPESS) on approval of the final design; and an update on the state of progress of the compulsory purchase procedures, with a view to facilitating and overseeing a clear, transparent pathway that takes into account all stakeholders.
