Information desks for affected parties open in Messina and Villa San Giovanni to enable analysis of the expropriation plan documentation and submission of any comments

Messina, Villa San Giovanni 2 April 2024 – A notice of commencement of a compulsory purchase procedure and a declaration of public utility, to be ratified on approval of the final design for the Strait of Messina Bridge by the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development (CIPESS), will be published tomorrow in national and local newspapers in Sicily and Calabria.

In line with the consents process envisaged by the regulatory framework, publication of the notice is subject to approval of the revised version of the project’s final design by Stretto di Messina’s Board of Directors, delivery of the design drawings to the relevant ministries and authorities, and the start of the Services Conference.

In order to ensure the widest possible dissemination of information, the notice – accompanied by the expropriation plan and lists of landowners – will be published on the websites of Calabria Regional Authority, Sicily Regional Authority and Stretto di Messina (https://strettodimessina.it/web/espropri-sdm/). It will also be posted on the official noticeboards of the municipalities affected by implementation of the project.

This intermediate phase, linked to publication of the notice, will enable all the affected parties to view the documentation on the expropriation plan and make any comments. Stretto di Messina will open information desks in Messina and Villa San Giovanni, located in dedicated spaces made available by the respective municipalities, in order to provide any support needed in analysing the documentation.

– Messina at the Palacultura Sala Rappazzo (ground floor) located in Viale Boccetta 373, Mondays from 3.00pm to 5.00pm; Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9.00am to 1.00pm and from 3.00pm to 5.00pm, except public holidays.

– Villa San Giovanni at the former premises of the Magistrate’s Court located in via Nazionale Bolano 541, Thursdays from 9.00am to 1.00pm and from 3.00pm to 5.00pm, and Fridays from 9.00am to 1.00pm, except public holidays.
