WORKING MEETING BETWEEN MAYOR OF MESSINA FEDERICO BASILE AND STRETTO DI MESSINA CEO PIETRO CIUCCI

Today, the Mayor of Messina Federico Basile and Deputy Mayor Salvatore Mondello met with Stretto di Messina’s CEO, Pietro Ciucci, at the Company’s headquarters in Rome.

“Today’s meeting,” commented the Mayor of Messina Federico Basile, “serves to launch an ongoing discussion regarding construction of the bridge, as well as related infrastructure that will benefit the local area. In this context, a technical meeting with Stretto di Messina will be held in Messina next Wednesday to examine the city’s priorities in greater detail.”

“One of Stretto di Messina’s main commitments,” said CEO Pietro Ciucci, “is to maintain constant dialogue with the cities affected by the bridge, as it is a local project that will benefit the local area. The reorganisation of Stretto di Messina, which began last July, has enabled resumption of a collaborative flow of information with Messina, Villa San Giovanni and the Sicily Calabria regional authorities, which is now fully operational. Technical working groups will be set up regarding all aspects relating to integration of the bridge within the local area, with a view to enabling the local authorities to implement their planned strategic choices. The final design, which previously reflected local concerns, is currently under review, although the main aspects, such as the positioning of the bridge structures and land links, will remain unchanged.”
