During the meeting, held at the Company’s offices, Stretto di Messina presented the design for the bridge and the related road and rail connections. The delegation showed a lively interest in the project, in part due to the major involvement of the Japanese company, Ishikawajima-Harima Heavy Industries, in construction of the Bridge. The company is part of the consortium led by Webuild that will act as General Contractor.

The Japanese delegation also noted the country’s extensive experience in the construction, operation and maintenance of long-span suspension bridges in Japan.
