“Today’s meeting with the Minister of Education and Merit, Giuseppe Valditara, together with representatives from key institutions and regional authorities,” said Stretto di Messina’s CEO, Pietro Ciucci, “specifically dealt with the issue of training, bearing witness to the willingness to  make the Strait of Messina Bridge a great opportunity for development of the local area.” Involving identification of professional profiles linked to the highly specialised nature of the work, and management aspects related to the bridge’s construction, the training is aimed at maximising the impact on employment in the Calabria and Sicily regions, thereby confirming that the bridge is a local project for the local area. The training initiative, which will also incorporate revised forms of previously drawn up protocols, takes advantage of the fact that by its very nature the bridge acts as a laboratory for promoting relations between science, technology, the local area and the market, serving to provide concrete opportunities for research, employment and business development.
