The single-span bridge over the Strait of Messina will hold several records for the size of its various components compared with bridges currently in operation. In fact it will have:

• Central suspended span: 3,300 meters.
• Height of the towers on the two banks: 399 meters
• Suspension cable diameter: 1.26 meters, each consisting of 44,323 steel wires

Deck width: 60.4meters (3 road lanes in each direction, 2 service lanes and 2 railroad tracks)
