HAS THE CO2 SAVINGS BEEN CALCULATED?
Overall, the shift of traffic flows from road to rail will result in a reduction in CO2 emissions.
Taking into account the modal shift towards rail, an estimated reduction of approximately 12.8 million tons of CO2eq is projected over the 2024-2063 period. This estimate accounts for emissions produced during construction (about 2 million tons of CO2eq) and the emissions associated with increased road and rail traffic.
