CABINET APPROVES IROPI REPORT – CEO CIUCCI: TODAY’S GREEN LIGHT ANOTHER VITAL STEP IN THE PROCESS

Rome, 9 April 2025
Stretto di Messina CEO, Pietro Ciucci, commented on this afternoon’s news about the Cabinet’s approval of the IROPI Report; the acronym stands for “Imperative Reasons of Overriding Public Interest”.

“Approval of the IROPI report,” Mr Ciucci pointed out, “is another vital step that will enable us to finalise the information package to be submitted to the European Commission for completion of the Environmental Impact Assessment. The Final Design and the business plan will then be examined by CIPESS, the Interministerial Committee for Economic Planning and Sustainable Development. After approval by CIPESS, the initial works and the Detailed Design process for the entire project will be launched in the second half of 2025”.
