A partire dal progetto di Massima del 1992, sviluppato dalla <a href=\"https:\/\/strettodimessina.it\/web\/chi-siamo\/\">societ\u00e0 Stretto di Messina<\/a>, i principi progettuali e i risultati conseguiti per questa opera sono stati presentati a livello internazionale, suscitando un notevole interesse e favorendo lo sviluppo di studi e iniziative che, nei decenni successivi, si sono concretizzati in importanti realizzazioni.<br \/>L\u2019impalcato del Ponte sullo Stretto di Messina (il <a href=\"https:\/\/strettodimessina.it\/web\/messina-style-bridge\/\">\u201cMessina style<\/a>\u201d. deck) \u00e8 un impalcato multi cassone con profilo alare che ha consentito di raggiungere la lunghezza di oltre 3.000 metri, resistendo a forti venti. L\u2019impalcato \u00e8 infatti formato da 3 cassoni longitudinali (2 per il traffico stradale e 1 per il traffico ferroviario) collegati da trasversi posti ogni 30 metri, tra i cassoni longitudinali sono presenti ampie zone aperte che consentono il passaggio del flusso d\u2019aria, riducendo cos\u00ec la resistenza al vento della struttura. Un altro contributo importante alla stabilit\u00e0 dell\u2019impalcato nei confronti del vento \u00e8 dato dalle barriere aerodinamiche, progettate appositamente per il Ponte, poste all\u2019esterno delle corsie di servizio che assicurano anche un elevato comfort di guida.<br \/>Il progetto di Massima del 1992, che ha delineato una visione innovativa priva di applicazioni precedenti, risulta oggi di estrema attualit\u00e0. Soltanto negli ultimi anni, infatti, esso ha iniziato a tradursi in opere realizzate a livello globale, con la prospettiva di ulteriori applicazioni future, consolidandosi come un riferimento imprescindibile nel panorama internazionale dei ponti a grandissima luce, noto come <a href=\"https:\/\/strettodimessina.it\/web\/messina-style-bridge\/\">\u201cMessina style<\/a>\u201d.
