I punti di contatto con il terreno del Ponte sullo Stretto di Messina sulla base degli studi geosismotettonici eseguiti, sono stati individuati evitando il posizionamento su faglie attive.<br \/>In particolare, per quanto riguarda le faglie di Cannitello e di Pezzo presenti nel catalogo ITHACA, occorre precisare che l\u2019Inventario delle Faglie Attive e Capaci in Italia (Catalogo ITHACA a cura di ISPRA) \u00e8 un prodotto di sintesi a carattere meramente bibliografico e la loro reale affidabilit\u00e0 \u00e8, come mostra la stessa scheda di ISPRA, discreta o bassa.<br \/>Quindi il Catalogo ITHACA pu\u00f2 rappresentare uno strumento conoscitivo per un approccio preliminare alla progettazione, ma non \u00e8 strumento idoneo alla progettazione vera e propria che, come da raccomandazioni ISPRA, deve essere preceduta da approfondimenti sul campo mediante indagini ed esami in sito, soprattutto per opere di una certa rilevanza. Ed \u00e8 esattamente ci\u00f2 che ha fatto Stretto di Messina, con studi geologici approfonditi in tutte le fasi progettuali, fino ai recenti ultimi aggiornamenti, compresi quelli effettuati in riscontro alle richieste della commissione VIA, nel 2024.<br \/>Per quanto riguarda le cosiddette faglie Cannitello-Gioia Tauro e Pezzo (ID 37400 e 37401 del DataBase), va sottolineato che le stesse, come riportato da ITHACA, sono identificate da studi svolti nel 1983 e nel 1994, superati dagli studi, ben pi\u00f9 dettagliati, svolti per conto della Stretto di Messina durante la progettazione preliminare e definitiva, e recentemente aggiornati, che hanno visto l\u2019esecuzione di circa 400 indagini geologiche, geotecniche, sismiche oltre a rilevamenti puntuali. Pertanto, i dati sulla presenza di queste (presunte) faglie sono stati superati dalle dettagliate campagne di indagini svolte nel corso delle varie fasi progettuali.<br \/>In conclusione, per quanto sopra descritto e comunque riportato nei pi\u00f9 recenti aggiornamenti progettuali, il posizionamento delle Fondazioni della torre lato Calabria su sistemi di faglie attive non \u00e8 supportato da alcuna evidenza scientifica, cos\u00ec come gi\u00e0 studiato ed escluso nei documenti del progetto del Ponte, dal preliminare ad oggi.
