The European Commission has approved co-financing of \u20ac25 million <\/em><\/strong>for preparation<\/em><\/strong> of the <\/em><\/strong>detailed design<\/em><\/strong>, equal to 50% of the <\/em><\/strong>cost of the design for <\/em><\/strong>railway <\/em><\/strong>infrastructure<\/em><\/strong>.<\/em><\/strong><\/p>

Messina, Villa San Giovanni, 16 July 2024<\/em> – On the sidelines of the G7 Commerce meeting held in Villa San Giovanni, where the Strait of Messina Bridge project was presented to foreign ministers, Stretto di Messina’s CEO, Pietro Ciucci, commented on the European Commission’s decision regarding financing of the detailed design.<\/p>

“<\/em>F<\/em>inancing of the <\/em>detailed design<\/em>,” said\u00a0 Mr Ciucci, “is an important signal from the European Union. It totals \u20ac25 million, or 50% of the amount earmarked for the railway part of the project. The European Union has thus confirmed the bridge’s strategic importance within the TEN-T network<\/em>.<\/em>“<\/p>
