40 km of road and rail links (approximately 80% of which running through tunnels) connecting, on the Calabrian side, with the Autostrada del Mediterraneo and Villa San Giovanni train station and, on THE AREA AROUND THE STRAIT <\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-0aaf584 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"0aaf584\" serve the local area and its people. Three underground railroad stops are to be built on the Sicilian side (Papardo, Annunziata, Europa). These, together with the stations at Villa San Giovanni, Reggio Calabria and Messina, will form an inter-regional metro system serving the over 400,000 inhabitants who live in the area around the
